about

Here is one of the tracks intended to be on our future album. We could not resist but to share it now.

We welcome you to enjoy this musical flavour of Mali. Additionally, an offering of Indian Bansuri flute performed by Shyan Kishore and a wash of Chaturangui (Indian slide guitar) played by Shivam Rath have been sensitively blended into the mix. May this rare and beautiful combination of ancient instruments spice your life with colour.

The Kora harp has a distinct and beautiful sound. It is an ancient instrument that deservedly stands out as a very positive representative of African culture. The sensitive and joyful approach with which Mohamed plays it immediately touches the heart and enlivens the soul.

Mohamed Saiba Diabaté was born into a Mandinka Griot caste family in Mali, West Africa. As a member of a Griot family known as a ‘Jeli’, it was natural for him to assimilate the musical language of their tradition into his identity from his senior relatives. As well as vocal, the Kora harp "double-bridge-harp-lute” is their instrument by which they pass stories that represent their historic stepping stones which have brought them to their current situation and inspired their present sense of identity today.

Learning from his Mother Oumou Dede Damba and Grandmother Dede Kouyate who are both very popular singers, and as well as from the renowned Kora harpist Sidiki Diabaté, son of the legendary Toumani Diabaté, Mohamed is one of the promising gems of this music tradition, whose level of achievement and mastery of this exquisitely beautiful instrument undoubtedly places him as one of the leading torch bearers for illuminating the hearts of many a fortunate listener.

Among his many accomplishments as a Master Kora artist has been to perform on numerous albums collaborating with renowned musicians such as Tiken Jha Fakoly, Wali Seck, Roberto Lutti & Sekouba Bambino.
He has also performed on several national and international stages along side Ballake Sissoko, Fousco and Djeneba. It was his honour to perform in the French Institute of Mali on the Nomadic evening of the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art in Paris.

Having accomplished such an array of collaborative projects, as well as individually standing out as a reputable artist whose breathtaking performance can elevate a captive audience from the first note, there is no doubt that Mohamed Saiba Diabaté shall continue to nourish the pride and joy of his family, Mali and Africa.

Fatim Latifa Diabaté is one of the most up and coming singers of Mali. Grand daughter of the Legendary Khaasso singer Dede Kouyate who was respected as one of the greatest singers of Mali, Fatim demonstrates immense power and control as a master vocalist on this track. She beautifully represents the warm heart of Mali as her charming personality shines through her vocal expression for all to enjoy. It has been such an inspiring journey to create this vibrant track with Fatim and her brother Mohamed.

The Indian Classical Bansuri Flute is renowned as probably the oldest known melodic instrument. Depicted as the instrument held in the hands of the Hindu God Lord Krishna, the Bansuri is held up in India as a highly revered instrument which serves as a portal into the depths of one's heart. It's tonal qualities instantly have the effect of caressing one into a hypnotic state of bliss and often an ecstatic vibratory conscious realm of euphoria.

Shyan fell in love with the Indian Classical Bansuri flute in 1996. Since that time he has had the honour to be a student of the renowned Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.

Shyan was instantly hypnotised by the sound of the Bansuri when first initiated to it’s mesmerising tonal qualities and emotionally evocative persuasion.
He has surrendered into the heart of Indian Classical music. The source from which he has drawn inspiration for collaborations with musicians representing an array of musical styles.
He has been touring, performing and teaching worldwide for many years and has offered his talent to many albums and projects. He has produced 28 of his own albums and released 37 Youtube music videos.

Shyan has performed with many distinguished artists such as Sri M. BalaChandar, Deva Premal and Miten, Yangchen Lhamo, Cristina Spinei to name but a few.
In the arms of music Shyan has discovered the depths of his own heart. His service and joy is to share love through music.

Thank you to Shivam Rath, student of the renowned Indian musician Debashish Bhattacharya for contributing some beautiful phrase work from the Indian slide guitar known as the Chaturangui.
